Youth allegedly threw bottle at policewoman
A TEENAGER will appear in court later this month after a policewoman was allegedly struck by a glass bottle on the Mid North Coast.
Police were called to a service station in South Kempsey last night about 10pm.
Officers arrested a 17-year-old boy, who had allegedly taken items from the shelves and smashed them on the floor.
He was taken home to a Crescent Head address, where police arrested a 43-year-old woman for an unrelated domestic incident.
Police allege the 17-year-old threw a glass beer bottle at the officers, which hit a female senior constable in the face.
Officers took the arrested woman to Kempsey police station and the injured police officer was treated by ambulance paramedics for a cut above her eye.
Police returned to the Crescent Head home, where the 17-year-old allegedly pushed another officer in the chest.
After a struggle in which police used OC spray to subdue the boy, he was arrested and taken to Kempsey Police Station.
He was charged with two counts of assault officer in the execution of duty, resist officer in execution of duty, destroy or damage property, and behave in offensive manner.
The boy was granted conditional bail to appear in Kempsey Children's Court on October 24.
