What a catch
TALK about the ultimate day's fishing.
Most fishos have had at least one great day on the water, where everything has come off perfectly, but few would have netted a windfall like that of Jetty Boating's new owners Karen Goodwin and Norm Dark.
Invited onto Nautilus Marine Insurance's 40-foot Assagi charter boat, The Force, they took part in a two-day bill fish competition as part of the Port Stephen's Game Fishing Tournament.
"Off we went 26 miles to the shelf, with many other boats and fisher people," Karen said.
"On the day we tagged five marlin, four striped and a blue and came home feeling pretty proud of ourselves.
"We shared a few coldies on the back deck of the boat with the skipper and crew members, as one does after a day on the water.
"We were already feeling pretty chuffed with ourselves as we headed back home and as we were just heading into Clybucca the state manager of Nautilus Marine rang us to tell us the boat we were aboard The Force had won the two-day competition."
Karen said Nautilus Marine Insurance, the major sponsors of the tournament, decided to donate the $5000 prize money to the Starlight Foundation.
