Man dead on Nymboida River near Dorrigo

UPDATE: A MAN who died while kayaking on the Nymboida River has been identified as a Woolgoolga man, aged in his 60s.

The man's family were notified of the tragedy by police last night.

A police helicopter is this afternoon winching Police Rescue officers into a remote stretch of the river to retrieve the body.

The landing site is located at Tyringham off Moonpar Rd.

 

TUESDAY 4.30PM: A KAYAKER has died while on the Nymboida River, near Dorrigo.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was flown to the scene between Platypus Flat and Codhole near the Dorrigo National Park on Tuesday afternoon, and paramedic Jason Wann winched to the river's edge where he spoke with two kayakers.

Police have since reported one kayaker, who is believed to be a male, is deceased and inaccessible.

The other two kayakers have continued on to Dorrigo.
