Thieves have raided a gun safe at Bowraville

POLICE are concerned a cache of firearms stolen from a Bowraville property may have fallen into the wrong hands and may be used for violent crime such as armed robberies on the coast.

A Valla Rd property owner reported that three rifles and a shotgun were stolen and that a smaller safe containing ammunition was raided on Thursday, August 1 between 8am and 9am.

Police have since launched Strike Force Yeran to investigate the incident, and are appealing to members of the public to come forward with any information.

Investigators are also interested in speaking with a group of males who were seen near a dark coloured vehicle in nearby Viewmount State Forest at Missabotti, shortly after the break-in.

Police located several items of interest at the location.
