Taylor Swift: Obsession with my lyrics is sexist
THE world's favourite country singer turned pop princess Taylor Swift is sick of your sexism.
In Australia to promote her upcoming album 1989 and its two stellar singles Shake it Off and Out of the Woods, Swift took aim at critics in a radio interview this morning.
Appearing on 2DayFM with Sophie Monk and Merrick Watts, the international superstar was quizzed about how she feels about all the rumours and gossip that flies whenever she releases a new track.
Swift was ready for the question.
Her music, she said, was borne out of "real emotions" that were valuable, not watered down.
"You're going to have people who say 'Oh you know she's just writes songs about ex-boyfriends'," she said.
"I think frankly it's a very sexist angle to take.
"Noone says that about Ed Sheeran. Noone says that about Bruno Mars.
"They're all writing songs about their exes, their current girlfriends, their love life and no one raises a red flag there."
Celebrity gossip writers have been frothing over Out of the Woods because of its references to "paper airplanes", which some have linked to her time with One Direction star Harry Styles.
Styles was regularly spotted wearing paper airplane pendants on a necklace.
