COFFS Harbour's SCG Country Cup campaign ended yesterday as two-time winners Tamworth took advantage of bowling first on a damp wicket in a low scoring affair.
Batting first at the Coffs Coast Sport and Leisure Park, Coffs Harbour was behind the eight-ball early when it slumped to 4-12.
There wasn't much more resistance after that with the home side dismissed for only 76 in the 33rd over.
From there on in, it was Tamworth's game for the taking, with only PBBC Colts player Trent Statham concerning Tamworth claiming 3-31 off his 7.2 overs.
Coffs Harbour captain, Russell Gardner, said he was proud of his team's effort this year and was looking forward to working with some of the young talent for next year's tournament.
"All I can say is that we've got some very bright prospects in Coffs that can move forward for us next year," Gardner said.
"We've had a couple of really good wins over the year and that will hopefully get the players interested and wanting to play for Coffs next year."
Ian Slapp was the only bright light on a miserable afternoon for the hosts, bringing 40 runs to the scoreboard.
"Unfortunately we lost the match, but we lost due to a few combinations - Tamworth won the toss and decided to bowl as well as some heavy showers the previous night which didn't do too well for our top order," the captain said.
"As the day went on, the pitch became a little harder, but the total we got wasn't going to be anywhere near enough to defend."
