Solutions for Valla Beach highway turnoff

UPGRADES will soon take place at the dangerous Valla intersection that claimed two lives in November last year.

With work completed on the Nambucca to Urunga Pacific Hwy upgrade, safety improvements have been announced for the Valla Beach intersection with the old Pacific Hwy.

It is the site where mother and daughter Rachel and Dixie Erlandsen died when their vehicle and an ambulance collided last year.

The upgrade work will include new give way signs and a northbound acceleration lane to allow for safe access to the highway from Valla Beach Rd.

State Member for Oxley Melinda Pavey said following feedback from the community a number of safety measures were installed at Valla last year including electronic message signs.
