Senator welcomes NBN release
DUTY Senator for Cowper Matt Thistlethwaite said that he welcomes the release of detailed maps by NBN Co, showing where construction of the National Broadband Network will start in Toormina.
"This is an exciting step forward for Toormina," Senator Thistlethwaite said.
"We are making real progress rolling out the National Broadband Network.
"The National Broadband Network will secure our economic future, and the jobs of the future. That's why the Gillard Government is delivering high-speed, reliable broadband to every home, business, school and hospital in Australia."
The maps show that the rollout in the area will cover the area from Boambee Creek in the north, west of the train line down to where the Sawtell Golf Club's 7th hole is.
The coverage will be west of this line moving out to cover all of Toormina Rd north of Linden Ave and where Sawtell Rd meets the north intersection of Linden Ave.
This coverage will ensure that Centro Toormina, the Industrial Estate and both Toormina Public and Toormina High School's will be part of the rollout.
The Labor Senator said construction of the NBN in Toormina would be complete within 12 months.
"This will enable families and businesses to connect to faster, more reliable broadband services," he said.
"A standard initial connection to the home or office won't cost the consumer anything - and services are already available on the NBN for under $30 a month."
