WHO'S WORST: Online face-off asks who's got a 's--t' town
COFFS Harbour has been slammed by a viral Facebook page which has made a name for itself through brutally assessing towns across Australia.
'Sh-t Towns of Australia' has a savage yet tongue in cheek approach, and recently gave Coffs a serving.
"Coffs Harbour is synonymous with bananas, blueberries and Bulldogs," the post read.
"The city's most famous feature is The Big Banana Fun Park, a B-grade family attraction built around a giant phallic fruit sculpture and showcasing all the fun things you can do with a banana - at least two of which are appropriate for children.
"Other sad attractions include a marine mammal slave park and The Clog Barn which celebrates everything about Holland except the fun stuff.
"Coffs Harbour' is a misspelling for 'Coughs Harbour', so named because the town's entire population had smallpox.
"Consequently they were shunned by their neighbouring settlements, causing a profound hostility that persists to this day.
"Coffs Harbourians are some of the most unfriendly, arrogant and judgemental bastards one could have the misfortune of meeting.
"They are fiercely proud of their city, despite it lacking any points of interest beyond a big yellow dong and an NRL scandal.
"Coffs is a comatose beachside ghetto and cultural wasteland with nothing to do but truckloads of meth.
"Indeed, it might be the only place where there are no jobs but everyone still judges you for not having one.
"The only thing going for Coffs Harbour is that no NRL team will ever hold a Mad Monday there again."
The spray dished out to Coffs has now placed the town in the uncomfortable position of possibly being named the sh-ttest town in the country.
Sh-t Towns of Australia have begun a 'Sh-t Town Showdown 2019' to determine once and for all where truly is the worst place to live.
A total of 64 towns have been selected for the showdown which will work as a knockout tournament over the course of the year, with people being able to vote via Facebook on which place they think is the sh-tter town.
First round match-ups feature some intriguing local derbies; including Nimbin v Byron Bay, Shepparton v Bendigo, Gladstone v Bundaberg and Ipswich v Toowoomba.
"Each week we'll let you vote on one or two match-ups; the winner will face the indignity of progressing to the next round, while the loser will be mercifully released from the competition," the Facebook post read.
"The last town standing will officially be crowned the 2019 Sh-t Town of the Year."
The Sh-t Towns of Australia page now has more than 50,000 likes and their posts regularly garner thousands of comments and shares.
