REINSW data proves Coffs Harbour best for rentals in state
COFFS Harbour has emerged as the best location in NSW for renters seeking accommodation.
The latest March 2014 REINSW Vacancy Rate Survey showed Coffs Harbour sitting on 3.8%, a rise of 0.8% on the previous month.
For North Coastal rentals, the local region had availabilities almost double the neighbouring Northern Rivers region (2.0%) and almost triple that of Mid North Coast (1.4%) which had the toughest prospects for rental seekers anywhere in the state.
In comparison, Sydney City has an average rate of 1.4%, the lowest since November 2011.
Malcolm Gunning, president of the Real Estate Institute of NSW, described the Sydney figures as "verging on crisis levels."
"We look with interest to the direction new premier Mike Baird will take in regard to property," he said.
"His support is essential to ensure that the best and brightest remain in NSW.
"This can only happen if he identifies the inequities of the current planning system as well as lack of affordable housing and incentives for first home buyers."
