Promising giant on way up with Parramatta deal

WITH a blue blood sporting pedigree, no wonder talent scouts are circling Carter Hoy.

The son of Coffs rugby legend Brendan and wife Natalie has won a scholarship with Parramatta Eels.

Ironically, he is attending Nudgee College, the famous rugby nursery that has produced a massive number of Australian Wallabies.

Carter is currently training with the Nudgee First XV squad which is a great achievement for a 16 year-old.

In rugby league, he is a Coffs Comets junior and club president Steve Gooley said Parramatta is trying different alternatives to the usual scholarship program.

"In this instance, they have offered Carter a program at a school that is enormously successful at rugby and with one of the best athletic programs in the country," Steve said.

"Carter has also played in Parramatta's SG Ball under-18 side and during the holidays he took part in the apprentice camps.

"Mum Natalie said Carter really misses his mates from Coffs so he regularly gets Comets' gear like polo shirts to wear to training at Nudgee."

Steve says he's already got a program mapped out for the young giant when he finishes his career in about 20 years.

"I'm going to convince Carter to come back to Coffs to captain-coach the Comets.

"In the meantime, it's great to see him succeeding and we all wish him the best."
