Precursor drugs used to create 'ice' seized in Sydney
CUSTOMS officers seized almost 30kg of precursor drugs in Sydney last week.
The seizures included approximately 17kg of ContacNT, 4kg of pseudoephedrine and 7kg of ephedrine in 11 separate consignments from China, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
Officers found the drugs concealed within stationery pens, ash trays, an air compressor, steel bolts, a brush roller, industrial hoses, cardboard packages, drive shafts and video cameras.
ContacNT is a cold and flu medication which contains high levels of pseudoephedrine.
Pseudoephedrine and ephedrine are precursor drugs used to manufacture amphetamine-type substances, including methamphetamine, commonly known as "ice".
