Postie leaves ridiculous parcel note
A WOMAN has been left shocked after receiving a ridiculous note from an Australia Post worker.
Merryl Lloyd was about to walk into her home in northwest Sydney with a friend when she noticed a parcel delivery slip tucked in the front door of the house, according to 7 News.
But when she read the note, she noticed the postie had left her an unusual message.
"I accidentally threw your parcel on top of the roof, my apologies," the bizarre note written on an Australia Post parcel slip read.
"Use maybe a broom to get it down."
"What the??" Ms Lloyd asked, sharing a photo of the note as well as an image of the package stuck in the guttering of her roof on Facebook.
"We got home from shopping and the little card was sitting in the screen door," she said. "The message said that the parcel was on the roof.
"We both looked at each other, then we stepped back and looked up and just burst out laughing."
Ms Lloyd told 7 News she was "five foot one" and wondered how she was supposed to get the package down.
She didn't use a broom but an extendible mop in the end to retrieve the package. The parcel didn't contain any fragile items, just clothing, and the jacket inside wasn't damaged by being thrown onto the roof or poked at with a mop.
Under Ms Lloyd's Facebook post, many commenters were confused about how a parcel could "accidentally" end up on a roof.
"Accidentally???" one commenter asked.
"Why on earth would anyone throw a parcel on the roof?? And then write it was accidental?" another commenter wondered.
One social media user suggested they'd seen delivery guys "throw" parcels from the street, or driveway, "so they don't have to walk up to the front door".
Australia Post is not amused and launched an investigation into the incident, saying they will be taking action against the postie.
"We have investigated what has happened in this case and are reaching out to the customer as part of that process," an Australia Post spokesperson told news.com.au.
"This behaviour is unacceptable, and we will be taking disciplinary action."
