Police seek witnesses

POLICE are still searching for the man responsible for Wednesday night's shooting at Park Beach Plaza.

The shooting, which happened in a loading dock on the southern side of the shopping complex, has left a 20-year-old Coffs Harbour man recovering from a bullet wound to the shoulder.

In what is believed to be a separate and isolated incident, a 32-year-old man was assaulted and robbed of his wallet and phone on the Paci-

fic Highway overpass near Arthur St just before 5pm, Thursday evening.

Coffs/Clarence acting crime manager Detective Sergeant Grahame Burke said there was nothing to suggest the two incidents were related.

“They are being treated as isolated occurrences,” Sgt Burke said.

The victim of Thursday's attack, a visitor to the region was approached by two men. One was carrying what police described as a large stick or block of wood, which he used to strike the 32-year-old man.

Sgt Burke said the man was struck with the weapon and fell to the ground.

The victim was treated at Coffs Harbour Base Hospital for a neck injury and later discharged.

The two offenders were last seen running on the overpass towards Park Beach HomeBase. One of the perpetrators was described as a male 25 to 28 years old with a dark complexion, wearing blue jeans, a red-coloured vest and white cap.

The second man was described as Caucasian, 15 to 25 years old, wearing blue jeans and a green hoodie. Witnesses are being urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
