Organisers need a Show of hands
WITH seven weeks to go until the Coffs Harbour Show, organisers are keen to enlist volunteers for odd jobs, ticketing and organising exhibits.
"We always manage to get everything done for the show but our hard-working committee rope in all their family to get jobs done," volunteer treasurer Peter Grimmond said.
"By the Monday after the show, everyone is like the walking wounded and more volunteers would help spread the load."
Some of the tasks for volunteers are as easy as handing out magazines at gates or staffing the information tent but people willing to do the heavy lifting are also wanted.
"We'd love a ground crew who could fill sandbags for the woodchop, put up flags, install crowd barriers and other odd jobs," he said.
"Ticketing at the gate has us worried. Ideally, we're looking for an existing team who can work together and are used to handling money, like bank or retail staff, or local service club members."
Indoors, volunteer stewards are needed to organise and display the hundreds of entries of jams, plants, photography, quilts and home crafts.
Volunteers will be given fluoro Show Society "CREW" safety vests and free entry to one of Coffs Harbour's most popular community events.
"We're doing everything properly and volunteers will do a safety induction before working on site."
Anyone willing to give some time before, during or after the Coffs Harbour Show is welcome to call Peter Grimmond on 0410 533 593.
A celebration of district agricultural achievements and one of our best-loved family community events, the 101st Coffs Harbour Show is on May 16 and 17.
