NSW Premier Baird headlines Coffs local government meeting
COFFS Harbour will be the centre of the NSW local government universe from Sunday until Tuesday as the 2014 Local Government NSW annual conference rolls into town.
Based at C.ex Coffs, delegates from 152 councils throughout NSW will begin registering for the October 19-21 conference from 3pm on Sunday afternoon.
Visitors will be welcomed by Coffs Harbour Mayor Denise Knight and the President of LGNSW Cr Keith Rhoades.
Official business of the three-day event will begin at 8.30am on Monday with an address by NSW Premier Mike Baird.
Minister for Local Government, Paul Toole, will speak at the conference and will also join in a question and answer session.
The research director of McCrindle Forecasts, Claire Madden, will give a presentation on demographic change, emerging generations and the future, while the Chairman of the Financial Literacy Foundation, Paul Clitheroe, who is also a director of Ipac Securities and the chairman of Money Magazine will give a presentation on economic trends in Australia.
Future Cities will be the title of a panel discussion at 1pm on Tuesday facilitated by MC Ellen Fanning.
Panellists will be the CEO of Urban Taskforce, Chris Johnson; journalist and commentator Elizabeth Farrelly and the Western Sydney director of the Western Sydney Business Chamber, David Borger.
Other speakers will be the opposition spokeswoman for local government Sophie Cotsis; the CEO of Roads and Maritime NSW Peter Duncan; the CEO of NSWALC, Les Turner; the deputy chairman of the Association of Mining Related Councils Cr Chris Connor and LGNSW President Keith Rhoades.
The conference will end on Tuesday afternoon.
