NBN Talk on Thursday

COMMUNITY regeneration and renewal expert Dr Tim Williams will talk about broadband communications, regeneration and community development at a free business luncheon to be held at 12.30pm on Thursday at Coffs Harbour Surf Club.

Dr Williams has recently completed a report on the impact of broadband on communities in England and the implications for communities in Australia.

Connecting Communities, commissioned by global telecommunications solutions company Huawei Australia, is based on case studies, interviews and analysis by Dr Williams.

It aims to help Australia prepare for a future which is increasingly tied to broadband

The author also hopes to promote and inspire engagement and discourse between Australian businesses, industry groups, government and communities.

Interested people can learn what is happening at the forefront of the telecommunications industry. Coffs Harbour is one of the trial sites for Stage 2 of the National Broadband Network.

At the end of his review, Dr Williams’ conclusion was that “broadband is too important to be left to geeks and engineers” and that the objective should be to build not just a network but a networked society.

Places are strictly limited so bookings for lunch are essential.
