Man found guilty over Jetty murder

A JURY has found a Coffs Harbour man guilty of the brutal bashing murder of a man at the Coffs Harbour Jetty, two years ago.

James Moore, 26, was found guilty in the Supreme Court of the murder of Dennis Burns, 50.

Mr Burns died of injuries suffered in a vicious attack outside his home on the corner of Collingwood and Edgar Sts in October, 2012.

He was airlifted to Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition suffering severe head trauma, but died of his injuries two days later.

Police alleged the 50-year-old was bashed with a metal pole and a piece of wood.

Moore of Boambee East was charged by detectives along with his mother Michele Kathleen Moore, 49, and her partner Brendan James Price, 41.

Moore will be sentenced in February.

His mother and her partner have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
