Major power outage in Mackay CBD impacts 500 customers
UPDATE 9.54AM: ERGON crews responded to reports of an explosion on a pole in a carpark near the Gregory and Gordon St intersection with about 500 customers impacted by loss of power.
An Ergon Energy spokeswoman said since the incident occurred just before 7.30 power had been resorted to all but 27 customers, who would be supplied generators.
Crews found damage to a high-voltage cable, which caused the unplanned outage.
The generator will be transported and installed.
"We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate everyone's patience," the spokeswoman said.
