Local longboarders struggle early at world champs

LONGBOARD surfing stars Harley Ingleby and Jared Neal have got their world championship campaigns off to a slow start.

Former world champion and proud Emerald Beach resident Ingleby finished third in his opening round heat of the Riyue Bay ASP World Longboard Championship hosted by Wanning in China today.

Sapphire Beach mal-rider Neal finished second in his opening heat, narrowly edged out by British surfer Ben Skinner.

The pair now must battle for survival in the repecharge round two at the left-point break.
