LATEST: Bush fire jumps highway

Live Traffic NSW are reporting that Orara Way is now open, however the bushfire nearby continues to burn in the Kangaroo Creek area. Please exercise caution when driving in this vicinity.

Meanwhile, Summerland Way continues to be closed. According to Fires Near Me, it appears the fire at Rappville has jumped across the highway and headed east toward Myrtle Creek.

After a busy few days on the fire front, it's good to see some smiling faces:

FIRE crews are out in the field this morning continuing to contain nearly 20 fires burning around the Clarence Valley.

"We have 19 jobs on the books but the fires at Whiteman Creek and Middle Creek Road are the two we still have concerns with," Clarence Valley RFS district officer Ian Smith said.

"Landholders need to remain aware that fire is burning in those locations."

Mr Smith said crews were on site this morning to continue working control lines over the next few days.

"Our goal is for these fires to become 'contained' status," he said.

FIRE crews were given some reprieve due to easing winds over night, but bushfires continue to burn across the Clarence Valley region.

This morning crews are attending to 16 different fires, including one structure fire along Greberts Rd, Whitman Creek.

Summerland Way between Casino and Grafton remains closed this morning while crews continue to  control a blaze in Rappville.

Local residents are permitted to travel along Summerland Way, except between Bungawalbin-Whiporie Rd and Avenue Rd.

All residents are urged to check Fires Near Me or the RFS website for regular updates and information and to follow firefighters directions on the ground.

Glad to see our crews are still smiling a
