Kristina's career bubbling away after sweet MasterChef exit

AFTER a teary exit from MasterChef, Kristina Short's food career is now bubbling away.

The 28-year-old exited the reality cooking show tonight after losing a pressure test to six-time elimination survivor Rose Adam and dessert queen Ashleigh Bareham.

The three amateur cooks were asked to recreate former MasterChef contestant Kylie Millar's complicated toffee apple dessert.

"I learned to bake just before the show, so I was unfamiliar with a lot of pastry processes," Short told APN.

"Going into a pressure test with Ashleigh, a dessert queen, and Rose, who absolutely is killer when it comes to eliminations, I knew I'd be up against it."

Short described her elimination as "traumatic".

"I definitely wasn't ready to go. It was completely traumatic. I cried for a full minute before I could speak," she said.

"I wanted to stay in there so badly... but in hindsight I'm so proud of what I've achieved on the show. I had some amazing moments."

Since leaving the show Short has worked as an apprentice chef at the Westend Pumphouse in Hobart and now plans to pursue her love of beer.

"I think MasterChef really consolidated my passion for cooking, and made me realise that pushing myself is something I enjoy," she said.

"I want to take a bit of time and play with beer for a little while.

"Anything to do with brewing is something that interests me."

She said pressure test regular Rose could be one to watch.

"Getting yourself out of that hole puts you in good stead for the competition," she said.

"She could be Julie Goodwin 2.0. Julie was in almost every elimination in season one (but went on to win)."

MasterChef airs Sundays through Thursdays at 7.30pm on Channel 10.
