Kindness passed on with much-needed PPE donation
COMMUNITY helping community was at the forefront of a generous donation made to an aged care facility to help allow loved ones to visit residents safely.
On Thursday LiveLife Pharamcy Noosa Fair donated face masks to NoosaCare’s Carramar aged care facility.
NoosaCare chief executive officer Megan D’Elton was grateful to receive the personal protective equipment, she said had been difficult to come by.
“Thank you to LiveLife who came to our assistance when the they found out we were having difficulties sourcing face masks,” Ms D’Elton said.
“Supplies can be quite limited unless you have a confirmed case of coronavirus which NoosaCare does not have.”
“LiveLife have always been incredible with their community support. We are so appreciate of their support.”
LiveLife Pharamcy Noosa Fair managing partner and pharmacist Andrew Feichter made the delivery as a way to pass on kindness that was passed onto them.
“We were very thankful to some of the businesses around here, so a few of the dentists when they had to close because of treatment protocols, we were able to purchase off them a lot of gloves and mask that we were then able to get on to at risk people in our community,” Mr Feichter said.
“LiveLife Central have done a great job now of ensuring a supply that we’ll have for the next six to 12 months that we’ll have in case there is any more outbreaks.”
“With a few of those that we have in excess we’re actually donating them.”
Mr Feichter said they hope the mask will provide that extra level of protection to staff, residents and visitors.
“That’s in case the staff don’t have enough that they do, of if they allow family to come and visit, because they’re the most vulnerable, that people don’t show up and then aren’t able to see their loved ones’
“Although it’s only a small thing we hope it will allow people to have the human interaction that they need.”
LiveLife, which has 15 pharmacies across the Sunshine Coast and employees more than 300 local workers, are looking to help other community groups who may be in need of PPE.
