Jarvis ready to live the Championships dream

TRAINER Jim Jarvis is confident he has the horse to beat in tomorrow's $100,000 Country Championships Qualifier (1400m) at Grafton.

Jarvis saddles up Ultimate Dreamer, a filly looking to make it four wins on the trot following a last-start victory at the track.

"She's done everything right so far, has shown tremendous ability and is still improving," Jarvis said.

"She'd have to be just about the best horse in the race and I think she's a big chance, but you've got to draw well at the 1400-metre start at Grafton."

Unfortunately Ultimate Dreamer drew awkwardly in barrier 15 with Jarvis booking in-form rider Matthew McGuren for the mount.

The daughter of Dreamscape has been up since November 13 but is thriving on the track.

"She's only a small filly but I'm hoping she can put her best foot forward.

"With a big heart, she's got to take the next step up because the other qualifiers have produced some nice horses."

Jarvis also has Clemmensen in the race and that horse was unlucky not to make the 2015 final.

However, Jarvis is backing his emerging filly to beat him home as at this stage of his career, as Clemmensen "has become a little dour and is looking for a longer trip."

Grafton's Northern Rivers Racing Association Country Championships Qualifier is race seven, timed to start at 4.50pm.
