India completes ODI series rout with win in Nagpur
INDIAN batting star Rohit Sharma rubbed salt in the wounds of an already beaten Australian side, smashing a century as the home team won by seven wickets in Nagpur.
India was already 3-1 up in the five match one-day series but showed no mercy, keeping Australians to 9-242 in its 50 overs before easily chasing the total down with 43 balls to spare.
Sharma's ton was the first by a home player in the series. His 125 off 109 balls featured his trademark powerful hitting - he smashed 11 fours fours and five sixes - and rarely looked in trouble.
He brought up his 14th ODI ton by smashing Nathan Coulter-Nile for six over midwicket.
Fellow opener Ajinkya Rahane chipped in with a half century, while skipper Virat Kohli made 39 as India eased home.
Coulter-Nile was again Australia's best bowler, with his 1-42 confirming his place as the series' leading wicket taker with 10 scalps.
Australia's innings was once more hit by a batting collapse as the tourists lost 3-18 in less than five overs to slump to 4-118.
Marcus Stoinis (46) and Travis Head (42) staged a revival but both neither could go on and make a much-needed big score.
David Warner was the only Australian to make a half-century, but was out caught on the boundary when trying to accelerate the innings on 53.
The first of three T20 internationals between the two sides is in Ranchi on Saturday.
