YOU know a south-easterly ground swell has hit with some force when body boarders are queuing up for a wave on Jetty Beach.
Plenty of postcard moments were framed by Advocate photographer Bruce Thomas with the iconic Jetty as the backdrop.
The low pressure system, which brought heavy rain, continues to move across the Tasman Sea but is still affecting our beaches.
The low is generating strong winds whipping up the large swell.
Westerly winds are creating somewhat clean surf, temperatures are comfortable both in and out of the water and the swell is bringing quality waves.
“Surfing conditions will be excellent for experienced surfers with the large easterly swell and offshore winds expected,” Craig Brokensha from swellnet.com.au said.
He said the swell will drop off on Sunday, a large southerly swell will develop next week but conditions won't be quite as good due to chilly southerly winds.
