Give: so more can celebrate this festive season
EVERY year the Coffs Coast Advocate's Adopt-A-Family for Christmas appeal brightens the lives of local families facing adversity at Christmas time.
Nominated by local charities on the Coffs Coast, the families seeking adoption face serious financial hardship or social dislocation, often through no fault of their own. This year has been a difficult year for many of our neighbours, with more families than usual facing a tough Christmas.
The Adopt-A-Family appeal is your chance to support these members of your local community in the true spirit of Christmas.
Last year this appeal helped more than 2000 families in Northern NSW and Queensland enjoy a better Christmas.
The appeal generated in-kind support of about $250,000, highlighting how generous and supportive our regional communities are.
Once again, the Adopt-A-Family appeal is honoured to have former Brisbane Bronco, Queensland Origin and Kangaroo great Shane Webcke as the patron for 2014.
Shane believes passionately in a "fair go" for all and the importance of lending a hand to someone who may never be in a position to return the favour - to give without thought of recompense.
The Adopt-A-Family for Christmas appeal invites individuals, businesses, clubs, schools, families and workplaces to join together to make sure everyone on the Coffs Coast has a truly merry Christmas.
