Lions-Suns clash will see four umpires on Gabba field

THE QClash at the Gabba between Brisbane and Gold Coast will be the testing ground when the AFL trials the use of four field umpires in a premiership match for the first time.

"The umpiring department is keen to trial four umpires in a match to see how the umpires position themselves on the ground and particularly the impact on decisional accuracy," umpiring boss Wayne Campbell said.

"We will be examining each umpire's GPS results to see if we can gain an indication of whether the umpires can make decisions under less fatigue and are in better positions to make decisions."

Geelong star Steve Johnson, meanwhile, has accepted his one-game ban for striking Lion Allen Christensen last weekend, and will miss this Saturday's clash at home with Sydney. North Melbourne's Michael Firrito accepted his one-game suspension for striking Carlton's Matthew Kreuzer and Fremantle's Zac Dawson decided not to contest his two-game ban for his hit on GWS's Jeremy Cameron.
