Fundraising drive is on for a local family

IT STARTED as a few car enthusiasts getting together and has now turned into a major fundraising event for a local family in need.

The Mild 2 Wild car group is organising the Cruise for Daniel, to start in Coffs Harbour and run to Red Rock, in a bid to help raise funds for local boy Daniel Bennington and his family.

Daniel suffers from cerebral palsy and his family is looking at a $20,000 bill to get him the mobility equipment he needs.

"A few of the guys in the club know the family and we thought why not help when we can?" spokesman Alex Kavgas said.

"We're a family friendly club and anyone is invited to come along on the cruise, it doesn't really matter what kind of car or bike you drive or ride."

The cruise will leave from the old Bunnings car park on Isles Dr at 10am on February 22 and finish at Red Rock Reserve where there will be a barbecue, raffles and other activities.

Smiley's Entertainment will have activities for the kids.
