Dutton's double standards show after doc's advice

YOU'VE got to love the double standards that appear to be overflowing within the Liberal Party at present.

Home Affairs minister/overlord Peter Dutton's latest efforts on Twitter gave another incredible insight into just how far disconnected this government is.

Mr Dutton advised us all last week he'd injured himself and required immediate surgery.

From reports, he ripped his bicep off the bone while doing some DIY.

I imagine that hurt a fair bit, and he is now following doctor's advice and remaining on medical leave from Parliament.

Interesting that he's chosen to follow the medical advice given to himself, yet refused three requests from senior medical staff to relocate a pregnant refugee from Nauru to Australia when she sought a termination in 2015.

I find it pathetic, to be honest.

This 23-year-old Somalian woman was pregnant after an alleged rape on the island, and the then-Immigration Minister's department denied three separate requests.

So it appears medical advice is only worth following when it affects him personally.

Stay classy, Peter.

The cynic in me wonders whether he might've found the strength to soldier on this week if he wasn't set to be the subject of rampant attacks on his eligibility to even sit in the House of Representatives.

Who knows.

I'm just glad for Pete's sake he didn't injure himself in a foreign country and had to rely on the generosity and goodwill of another nation's leaders to help him get the care he needed.
