Dragons re-sign coach for two more years
ST GEORGE Illawarra has re-signed coach Paul McGregor for a further two years.
The 49-year-old's new deal will keep him at the Dragons until the end of the 2019 season.
McGregor, said while delighted to have signed a contract extension, his focus was on the rest of this season and improving on the lowly finish to the 2016 campaign.
"I'm very honoured and thankful to be given the opportunity to continue coaching at this great club, a club that means so much to me personally," he said.
"This is a very proud club, rich in history and tradition with a big passionate member and supporter base and I feel very privileged and grateful to have been afforded this opportunity.
"Whilst the contract extension is nice for me and my family, it hasn't and won't shift my focus from the current 2017 season.
"I've learnt a lot over these past few years and will continue to develop and do everything I can bring sustained success to this club."
The former Country Origin, New South Wales Origin and Kangaroos player began his coaching career in the Illawarra and progressed through the Intrust Super Premiership to the NRL.
McGregor has coached 76 NRL games to date after first taking on the head coach role midway through the 2014 season.
