Does it get any better than Derby Day?
RACING: Victoria Derby Day is set to take place at Flemington tomorrow with four intriguing Group 1 races.
The Victoria Derby is one of Australia's most historic events and it is Group 1 winner Sacred Elixir that is currently on top of betting markets with Ladbrokes.
But while Sacred Elixir does look extremely well placed, favourites don't have the best record in the Victoria Derby - before Tarzino won last year the last favourite to salute was Efficient back in 2006.
The Myer Classic for fillies and mares is another race in which favourites have struggled in recent years, with Red Tracer (2013) the only horse at single figures to salute in the past six years.
This is a very open edition of the Myer Classic and you can make a case for the likes of First Seal, Don't Doubt Mamma, Dixie Blossoms, Whispering Brook and even Rising Romance.
The new race on Victoria Derby Day is the Cantala Stakes (formerly known as the Emirates Stakes), which has been pushed forward a week in a direct swap for the old Mackinnon Stakes (now known as the Emirates Stakes).
There is rarely a clear winner in the Cantala Stakes and a blanket finish on Saturday looks very likely.
The Coolmore Stud Stakes is the final Group 1 event on Victoria Derby Day and it is set to be the pick of the bunch, with very little between the leading chances in the betting market with Ladbrokes.
Moir Stakes winner Extreme Choice and Schillaci Stakes victor Star Turn are joined by Golden Rose Stakes winner Astern, Golden Slipper winner Capitalist and the unbeaten Russian Revolution.
All five of these horses are on the verge of superstardom and the winner of the Coolmore Stud Stakes will stamp themselves as the most talented colt in the country as well as the leading stallion prospect for breeders.
Don't miss out on the excitement this weekend - the Victoria Derby, Coolmore Stud Stakes, Myer Classic and Cantala Stakes betting markets are now available with Ladbrokes.
