Cowper pushes for Pollution Free Politics

A CALL to ban political donations and subsidies to fossil fuel companies was made today by concerned Coffs Coast residents in front of Federal Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker's office.

Protesters converged on Mr Hartsuyker's office to advocate their message in various forms, including a satirical street performance mocking the executives of Australian mining companies.

Greens candidate for Cowper, Carol Vernon showed her support towards the ban at today's protest.

"It's about really bringing to people the influence of donations on politics," she said.

Mrs Vernon said she was pleased to see climate action groups from both ends of the Cowper electorate, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie, collaborate and advocate against political donations and subsidies to fossil fuel companies.

The protest is part of the Pollution Free Politics campaign, a nationwide initiative run by 350.org.
