STEVEN Spencer is on a mission to claim his first senior coaching trophy.

He takes his new look Woolgoolga line-up to meet Coffs Harbour tomorrow seeking to lift the Dawes-Harvey Cup for the first time.

"It will be a pressure game for Coffs after almost going down to the Rebels," he said.

"I'm confident we can apply the right pressure and take this one out."

Spencer has placed great faith in his halves; Clark Webb and new recruit Freddy Robinson.

"Webby is such a clever thinker and a great clubman," he said.

"This will be Fred's second match and it's the one where he'll be settled right in."

The Comets have planned a huge day starting with a women's Oztag match from 11.15am.

  • Meanwhile South Grafton halfback Jay Melrose is appealing his season-long suspension on the grounds of "denial of natural justice".

Chief administrator Jim Anderson was waiting for a hearing date but said it would be allocated as soon as possible.
