Carnival is here to stay

CONTRARY to the rumour that has been circulating around town, the Jetty Carnival isn't going anywhere.

A summer institution on the Jetty Foreshores for more than 20 years, March's Amusements has provided fun and frivolity for the past 21 years and the Christmas and New Year holiday period simply wouldn't be the same without it.

Coffs Harbour City Council is aiming to make that 22 years and even more.

"March's are a pretty integral part of town in that holiday period so we certainly want them back," the council's director of corporate business, Craig Milburn, said.

Stan March from March's Amusements, the long-term carnival operator, said that the rumour of the company not returning to Coffs Harbour's foreshores was news to him.

"First time I've heard it," Mr March said.

March's Amusements have enjoyed their stay in Coffs Harbour this year and have stated that if they do the same next year as they have over the past month then they will be back.

At this stage, the final day of operations for this year's Jetty Carnival will be January 28.
