Breakfast the perfect start to Rally week
BONVILLE Golf Resort provided the beautiful backdrop for Rally Australia activities to begin in earnest.
While the action on the roads for Coates Hire Rally Australia doesn't officially begin until Thursday's shakedown, this morning's breakfast at what is acknowledged as one of the world's most beautiful golf courses was the start of a big week on the Coffs Coast.
WRC drivers Andreas Mikkelsen, Kris Meeke, Hayden Paddon, Scott Pedder and Ott Tänak joined Rally Australia ambassador Courtney Hancock in front of a full house to discuss the upcoming event before heading to the back of the 18th green to take part in a chipping and putting contest that proved why the quartet are better behind the wheel of a rally car.
Later in the morning the drivers headed to Jetty Beach where they were given a surfing lesson from Hancock.
Hancock was riding a specially made Rally Australia surfboard, which will eventually be given as a trophy for the winning manufacturer team at the event on Sunday afternoon.
From 1pm today drivers will be visiting John Paul College for a 'penalty kick' contest against senior students from the school's rugby team.
This is a throw to IRB World Cup which starts in the United Kingdom in less than a fortnight.
WRC drivers from Wales, Northern Ireland, Australia, France and Italy sure have plenty of interest in the World Cup.
