Breaker Ben visiting home of AFL footy

SUNDAY is going to be a red letter day for young Coffs Harbour Breakers star, Ben Gibbeson.

Ben has been selected for the NSW-ACT Rams to play against Victoria Metro in the final game of the Under-17 Futures Series taking place in Melbourne.

He's been selected as one of 15 members of the Swans Academy squad who have made the grade and while playing against the best talent the southern state can provide, Ben will come under the sharp eyes of AFL talent scouts.

A valued member of Breakers' senior side, Ben is a product of AFL North Coast junior development programs with more young players of above average ability likely to emerge from the opening weekend of age semi finals.

NAMBUCCA Valley Lions completed an undefeated home and away season with victory over Grafton Tigers to lock in an appearance in the major semi final.

Their opponent was confirmed as Northern Beaches Blues whose last round victory over Sawtell-Toormina not only secured second place but dashed any hopes Saints had of playing finals.

Wins for Port Macquarie Magpies White and Coffs Harbour Breakers Dark saw those teams secure third and fourth places respectively to set up a meeting.

GRAFTON Tigers was the only team guaranteed a finals berth ahead of the last round and they can now lock in an appointment with Macleay Valley Eagles who secured second spot with a hard fought victory against Manning Valley Mustangs.

A place in the minor semi came down to mere percentages and ultimately saw Breakers and Magpies squeeze through .

Bellingen Bulldogs can consider themselves unlucky not to feature after they missed out on fourth place by less than two percent on the win/loss ratio.

DEFENDING premiers Breakers finished one game clear of Tigers to set up what should be a classic major semi.

Magpies and Eagles will go head to head in the minor semi with both desperate to claim the win and keep their season alive for at least one more week.

TIGERS' win over Bulldogs saw them secure second place on the ladder and earn a showdown with minor premiers Sawtell-Toormina.

The winner of this match progresses straight to the grand final on August 26 while the loser gets a second chance against Bellingen.
