Autumn means it's time for the Plant Fair

AS THE first leaves start to change colour, some Coffs Coast locals see it as the signal autumn is starting but local gardeners and plant enthusiasts know different.

The change of seasons means one thing, it's almost time for the annual Autumn Bellingen Plant Fair.

This event is your opportunity to talk to the region's best growers who cultivate and have extensive knowledge about tropical, sub-tropical, native, exotic and food-bearing plants, as well as garden supplies and equipment.

While the key focus is on plants, it is a great day out with food, coffee, tea, cakes and relaxing music.

Learn from the growers how to develop your wonderful garden, gain inspiration for your next project or purchase plants for that new garden bed.

Organisers said last year was a huge success, not only for growers and buyers but in reducing plastic waste.

They are asking that once again you consider the environment and do your bit by bringing your own bags, boxes or barrows to carry away your plants.

Don't worry if you forget, there will be some spare boxes, bags for sale or kids to carry your plants for you (all by donation please).

The pot recycling initiative also worked well last year so bring in your clean, unbroken used plastic pots for reuse by the sellers.

Please carpool if you can and disabled parking will be available near the gates.

If you wish to know more about this event, or if you are a grower or volunteer and want to be part of it all, contact the Plant Fair Team at Bellingenplantfair @gmail.com.
