A bit of insanity at the Bunker

THERE is plenty of excitement and quite a few chuckles surrounding the next exhibition at the Bunker Cartoon Gallery which will feature the work of Tony Lopes.

Who's Tony Lopes? He's the comic mind and creative force behind the popular Insanity Streak comic strip.

Lopes began cartooning as a young child. While most other children his age were playing outside, Lopes preferred to sit in his bedroom studying art from Warner Bros to Don Martin cartoons.

Lopes sold his first cartoon at the age of 16 and after studying fine arts, Lopes began the arduous task of making cartooning a career.

Persistence was the key to his success and he now jokingly displays a file containing well over 200 rejection slips.

It's not just cartoons that will be on the walls, Tony Lopes is also an accomplished landscape artist and a selection of his paintings will also be on display.

Friday is opening night, Tony will be at the Bunker around a 6.30pm for a meet and greet. All welcome.

Exhibition open Nov 6 - Jan 28. Details 6651 7343 or info@bunkercartoongallery.com.au
